Rise of Rome
Rome was not always the gigantic empire that we know of today. It started as a small village. They then started to grow bigger, but they were ruled by Etruscan kings. After people rebelled they started a republic where the people had the power to govern themselves, though the patricians had all the power since they would change the laws which would only favor them. But that all changed after the plebeians’ revolt where the plebeians who thought the laws were unfair would camp outside the city and do nothing unless the senate gave them a bit of power. The senate/patrician finally decided to carve the laws on twelve tablets, the fact that one of the two patricians had to be a plebeian, and the formation of the assembly where plebeians had a say in the government. The assembly protected the plebeians rights and they also decided who the consuls are. All was going well until Julius Caesar came along. He had conquered many lands like Gual, and the senate thought that he would get too much power so they called him back. He refused to obey the order and continued conquering land. When he returned he fought with his rival and won. He took control of Rome, but he was called the first dictator of Rome. after he died his grandnephew Octavian/Augustus Caesar won a civil war and took control of Rome. Because of that Rome was at peace for along time. Then after a long time the Roman army was far too small to defend all their land, so rivals attacked them. Then their emperor decided to move Rome's capital which made Rome fall. But before Rome fell it split into two. After the Roman empire fell the other empire. The Byzantine Empire/the Eastern Roman Empire was still standing, but then it also fell too.
